As an intern in the Office of Communications and Public Affairs, I identified and developed stories for pitching and placement based on the University of South Carolina’s defined core messages, themes, audiences and delivery methods.
I wrote external news releases, feature stories and student profiles while building media distribution lists and assisted in the execution of events for the media. I collaborated with the web, public relations, writers group, creative services and marketing teams in the office.
Note: The name “Peggy Binette” that is seen in some documents was my internship supervisor. The press releases with her name are ones I wrote but since they were sent to the media, her name and contact information were used.
